How to take a COLD SHOWER for hot girls – 4 benefits

~ If taking cold showers will help me get soft skin, I will gladly turn the shower temperature down.

M. NELLA

If you are a consumer of self development content, you have probably heard of cold showers.

You know what I am talking about, those morning routine videos in which they take cold showers.

According to them it’s a very healthy way to start the day and it’s a very popular thing to do! And not for nothing!

There are countless benefits of taking a cold shower in the morning. In this blog post we will cover some of the benefits of taking cold showers. I will also explain how you can start taking a cold shower in the morning.

So I have always been someone who showers a little colder. Especially in the spring/summer when the sun is shining through my bathroom window.

I live in a place where it can get pretty cold during the winter, therefore it can be extra-super-very cold to take a cold shower. Furthermore, there’s quite some wind in my bathroom and if you take a cold shower it gets extra cold on your skin.

However, even in the winter I try to end my shower with cold water! People say that this also has quite some positive effects. But if you want to get the most benefits then you will have to sit out the full cold shower.

In the summer I like to take cold showers. Especially after a day on which my skin got a lot of sun, my skin can then ‘cool’ down.

I have also realized that taking a cold shower after a run is also really nice. And it’s also very good for your body!

Let’s dive into the first reason you should take cold showers more often.

1. Heal faster after exercising

Okay so the first benefit of taking cold showers is that your muscles will heal faster after exercising. This is very good news for the fit girls and gym bros under us! It means we can heal faster and thus grow muscle faster. And of course we will be able to exercise sooner and thus more!

I will now quickly explain how this works 🙂

Because of the cold water on your skin, your blood vessels tighten, they constrict. This causes an increase in your blood pressure and this causes the blood flow in your muscles to increase. Waste products can be removed (more quickly) and oxygen and nutrients can be absorbed (more quickly).

So if you want to grow some muscle (faster), go take that cold shower!

2. Glowing skin!

Of course I had to name this one!

Who doesn’t want to have a baby soft skin?

If taking cold showers will help me get soft skin, I will gladly turn the shower temperature down.

So how does this work?

This benefit also has to do with your blood. As a result of the cold water your muscles and blood vessels contract. This will make your skin smoother and tighter.

There’s actually another way cold showers make your skin glow! Cold showers also ensure that your skin dries out less quickly.

3. Lower the stress levels

& feel better!!

When everything is very busy with your work or your personal life gets too much…

Take a cold shower!

Taking a cold shower will lower your stress levels. This is because it will stimulate the release of endorphins, a.k.a. ‘happiness hormones’.

As the name suggests, it’s a hormone that makes us feel good. They have a negative effect on the stress hormones, which makes us feel more positive. (Still get it?)

Endorphins also promote the release of serotonin and dopamine. I think we all know serotonin as the love hormone and we know dopamine makes us feel good! So no further explanation needed here. <3

4. Train your body to stay warm

You probably think: “uhh, how…”

This one needs a little bit more explanation. But basically by taking a cold shower, you train your body to build a natural coat in your skin.

This is how it works:

The cold water stimulates your body to produce brown fat. Brown fat, unlike white fat, is fat that has the purpose of keeping you warm. (White fat is to store energy)

5. Improve your immune system

Taking a cold shower is also very good for your immune system!

As you probably can guess, the cold water shocks your body. This shock stimulates your immune system, resulting in increased production of white blood cells. This means you improve your resistance to illnesses by taking cold showers regularly.

Let’s take a cold shower

Now that I have summoned up some benefits of taking a cold shower, it’s time to explain how you can start to take cold showers.

I wouldn’t recommend taking a full cold shower if you are living in the north of scandinavia. Your body is probably not going to like it and it’s not very healthy.

So how do you start taking cold showers?

One way you can do this is how I did it. By taking a cold shower at the end of your shower. You can then do this for a little longer each time you shower. You can start with counting 20 seconds, then 30 seconds until you can take a full cold shower.

Keep in mind that this is easier to do in the summer. It’s also important to focus on your breathing. Not only your muscles can cramp, you can end up holding your breath. This is of course not a good thing to do.
