of me

Everytime I go to Amsterdam I learn something new. In every street there is a museum or a unique shop. This city is rich of history and culture. It’s a mix of a lot of unique places, just like the people. I went on a city trip to Amsterdam and here you can read about my experiences.

When I visit a city, I like to combine lot’s of different types of things. However most of the things I do, have to do with history. I am less interested in musique and things like that. Furthermore, I like to do things that don’t require too much money. The best experiences do you get from the small moments. Just sitting on a bench in the sun overlooking the canals is actually much more fun than sitting in an expensive hotel room. Scroll down and find out what the favorite things I’ve done are.

This is were I went.
Amsterdam, the Netherlands

This is how much I liked it on a scale of 1 to 10.

Some highlights of this trip.
The breakfast at the hotel and the old buildings.

01 Rembrandtplein (square)

Most of the time when I visit Amstedam, I like to just walk around. I believe that just walking through the streets will give you those Amsterdam vibes. Everything looks so unique and even the people look unique. That’s what I like about Amsterdam, you can find anything you want.

There is a lot of history but also art. When I combine these two, I can only think of Rembrandt van Rijn. He was a famous Duth painter in the 17th-century. On the Rembrandtplein (square) you can find a monument that was made in the 19th-century.

02 The Streets

As I wrote earlier, I believe that walking around the streets is amazing. You don’t need to go to the Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh museum to truly experience this Duth City. I have been to both of them and to the Rijksmuseum multiple times.

What I want to say is don’t plan your day full with only museums, the streets are a museum in and of themselves. Walk around the canals and visit the small stores. I also love to observe the architecture and the symbolism that is used. In a lot of old buildings you can see this and once you know what certain old symbols mean, you can understand more about who built those houses and why?

03 The Food

Because who doesn’t love food? I love to eat at new places because of multiple reasons.
1) It makes my stomach very happy. And if I can please her, then I do it.
2) The second reason is because it keeps me alive. I like life so.. I want to stay in life and for that reason… I need food.
3) To get inspiration. Googling new recipes doesn’t always work for me. I don’t smell the apple pie and I don’t taste the apple. But… when I eat this at a restaurant I can see how they made it. Then, I can use this information and use it in my own recipes. I don’t like to eat food from the supermarket that is full of unnecessary ingredients that you shouldn’t even call food. Therefore, I like to make my food myself. Then I am 99% sure it’s a healhier option, not full of stupid ingridients.

04 Anne Frank Huis (House)

I love hearing stories from my grandmother about World War II. Not because the war was nice, but because it helps you understand people more. It helps you understand what people had to go through. My grandmother has stories that she experienced as a child, but a child shouldn’t have experienced that. Anne Frank was also a child that experienced things she shouldn’t have. It’s very interesting to be in the room she stayed in for so long. So close, but at the same time so far away. Sadly, her story doesn’t have a happy ending.

I think visiting this museum is worth the time and money. Learn more about her story and that of others and visit this museum. Make sure to reserve a ticket online in advance, otherwise you can’t get in!

It’s about those small moments. It’s about observing the details and letting them inspire you. When this happens, I know the trip is succesfull.

Of course I did way more on this trip, this is just a small compilation of what I did. However, with this simple article I hope to have inspired you. Amsterdam is a city worth visiting once in your lifetime.

It’s more than just weed and legal prostitution.

Amsterdam is full of history. When I think I have seen everything in Amsterdam, I come back and see new things. New cute and aesthetic places to take pictures or just to find peace. I love the bustle of the city.

However, that’s not the only thing I can enjoy. I love to visit the sea too. To hear the waves and smell the fish. If you want to see more of the trips and adventures I made, you can find them here.

This is it for today, friends. I hope to see you again somewhere on this website 🙂 Oh, and let me know what you guys think of this trip.

What trip or adventure are you taking anytime soon?
